Wedding Wednesday: Gabbie & Richard Cox

We're kicking off our first "Wedding Wednesday" with one of my very favorite couples, Gabbie and Richard Cox. I met Gabbie & Richard through Crossfit almost  two years ago. The two still Crossfit together...I can't say the same for myself!  Anyways, Gabbie and I became quick friends and I have loved watching Gabbie and her man go from dating to engaged to MARRIED! I was so honored to be part of Gabbie's wedding dress process. I'm not sure she could have chosen a more perfect dress for her! She chose an Allure Bridals slip dress with gorgeous lace applique with light beading.

How to style our infamous "Wifey Tee"

This past Saturday one of our sweet brides, Courtney, came shopping for bridesmaids dresses for her late October wedding. We got to talking and she said she had JUST got her engagement photos back. I was so excited that she had chose to wear her "Wifey" tee ( that we give all of our brides) for one of her outfit choices for engagement pictures. I wanted to share with you all to show you how she chose to style her t-shirt! I love the skirt to dress it up and the hat couldn't have been cuter. Thanks for sharing Courtney!

Tesori Wifey: Emily Buckingham

It's so exciting when we receive pictures from our brides on their big day! This time these pictures came from Emily Buckingham who had a beautiful beach wedding. Emily and her hubby got married on the beach of Ambergris Caye, Belize. She wore an Allure Bridals sweetheart gown with beaded waistband in a yummy hue of champagne. I'm a sucker for special details and Emily's "something blue" was a heart sewn on the inside of her gown of her daddy's police uniform. Her father passed away a few years earlier and said she wanted to do this "so he could be with me while I walked down the aisle". What a sweet way to honor her dad! To Emily: I had so much fun helping you find your gown. Thank you for letting us be part of your big day. We were so proud to have you as our bride. You made a beautiful bride and your dress was breathtaking on the beach.

Prom Hair: the "un-do"

Think of Beyonce's "I woke up like this" and that's what I mean by the "un-do". Perfectly pretty hair for prom or any formal event for that matter, that looks undone and effortless.  We get asked ALL the time about how we think hair should be done with a specific dress so it's only fitting we share some of our favorite looks for prom hair ideas. PS, did we just coin the phrase "Un-do"???

Short hair un-do. Short hair is obviously harder to style for formal events but I love the deep side part and pulled back on one side.

5 items every bride needs on her wedding registry via Amy Hannon {Owner of Euna Mae's}

Hey Everyone! So, we asked the queen of the kitchen, Amy Hannon the 5 most important things that every bride should have on her registry! She is the owner of the super fabulous kitchen and housewares store called Euna Mae's, located on Carley Road in Springdale. I must admit that I am missing a few of these items in my kitchen {married almost 3 years} so I will have to pay a visit to Euna Mae's and fix that! Read below to see what Amy's top 5 must haves are:

| an apron collection |
First things first, aprons. When a lady is in the kitchen, whether stirring a red sauce or rolling cookie dough, she needs an apron. And I believe in having an apron arsenal to go to that suits your kitchen task! A washable, cotton, full apron is perfect for serious kitchen tasks. And a beautiful heirloom linen halter apron or a lovely waist apron with a big sash is just right for hosting a dinner party. Pretty and purposeful!

cast iron skillet
Every bride, especially a Southern bride, needs a good cast iron skillet. Cast iron skillets are the most versatile, hardest-working kitchen cookware. Cast iron sautes, sweats, and braises on the cooktop. And it bakes and broils in the oven. A cast rion skillet can even go on the grill so your Honey-do can do the cooking too!  A cast iron skillet has staying power. Our grandmothers' grandmothers used cast iron. You may be fortunate enough to have received one that has been in your family for generations. If not, then the cast iron tradition can begin with you!

beautiful multi-purpose bowls

I'm a bowl junkie. I love them and use them like wild! Oh yes, stainless or melamine mixing bowls are functional in the kitchen, BUT why not choose beautiful multi-purpose bowls that serve the same purpose and can also be a feast for the eyes?! These gorgeous handmade English mixing bowls can be used for stirring, serving, and storing. And these English mixing bowls have been made for centuries. From Julia Child to Martha Stewart to The Pioneer Woman, women with culinary taste have been using English mixing bowls to bring grace and purpose to their kitchens for generations.

french oven

I don't have to tell you that a gorgeous, Le Creuset french oven is a signature kitchen item that has long been on bridal registries. And for good reason. Not only are they stunning pieces of cookware, but they are durable, versatile, and hold heat like no other. Le Creuset enamaled french ovens are cooktop and oven-safe plus they go from oven to table with style. French ovens are used for everything from soups, stews, and roasts to baking artisan bread! With proper use and care, Le Crueset french ovens will last a lifetime and include a guarantee for as long.

special pretty plates

Brides and grooms choose every day dishes that they plan to use, well, every day. But I believe all kitchens should have a small selection of pretty plates to use for special occasions. Maybe you're having your mom and sisters for lunch. Or you're serving dessert on the porch to new neighbors. There's something especially wonderful about having a few pretty plates that aren't the usual to serve and eat from. Different sizes, shapes and patterns are available in this tried-and-true Burleigh dishware. Handmade in England since 1851, Burleigh is my absolutely favorite plate for those special bites and memory-makers.

Crowns aren't only for the {{homecoming}} queen

We love doing things a little different over at Tesori and that's exactly why we love the flower crown as an alternative to the traditional boutonnière for homecoming. Pigmint (located on the square in Fayetteville) has mastered the art of the flower crown and did I mention has some of the best florals in town! Our shop girl, Taylor, is wearing a gown by Sherri Hill (Style #21154) dawning the most darling flower crown crafted by the professionals at Pigmint.

Perfect Proposal: Candice & Josh

This past Saturday I got to help Candice find her dream dress at Tesori! I had such a fun time getting to know Candice and her mama....I love that she's officially a #tesoriwifey!  As we were talking I got to hear her engagement story and immediately knew I had to share this story with everyone. It's truly the sweetest proposal and was captured so beautifully. Take note guys, fiance, Josh thought of every detail!

The only way Josh could think of getting Candice out to War Eagle Mill was to tell her they had a fancy meal planned with friends at a restaurant nearby. "Coincidentally" the restaurant was closed so the two decided to take a walk along what we all know as War Eagle Bridge.

Little did Candice know that Josh had a little surprise on the other side of the bridge waiting for her.

Here is Candice's entire family down below the bridge...you can imagine how surprised she was! On the back of these signs was a note to each family member from Josh. How thoughtful is that???!!

And to the good part!  When she turned around from seeing her family, Josh was already down on one knee. Candice explained that Josh spoke of how love is the greatest of all things and then asked her to marry him. She said "she could not have imagined anything better!"

     It's finally April and we all know what that means.... P R O M! There's nothing better than watching our prom girls faces when they realize they have finally found THE dress. We can't believe that some of our very first prom shoppers a few years ago are now seniors and graduating high school. We really wanted to share some of our {most} memorable stories of our customers that are now seniors but there's WAY too many for just one blog post. To all of our graduating seniors that have shopped with us through the years- congrats and good luck with all that you do after high school!

     So, with all that being said, if we had to choose a "worst part" of selling prom dresses it would be that we don't get to see our "Tesori Prom Girls" all dressed up! We get to know our customers and help them find the perfect dress but when it comes down to prom night we miss out on the pictures. We're asking all of our prom customers to tag us in their prom pictures @tesori_bridal_formal & hashtag #tesoriselfie  so we get to see all of your beautiful faces and dresses of course! For all of you that participate you will be entered to win a $50 gift card to our NEW neighbors, The Pink Pig! { { { What is The Pink Pig, you ask??! It's a brand new store right next to us and will be the only store in NWA carrying Lilly Pulitzer with a few other lines sprinkled in between. And they happen to be the only boutique at the moment to carry Lilly in the ENTIRE state of Arkanas.} } }

Nobody likes a phony: ordering online

 "Oh, I can just order my {insert event here} dress online." HOLD THE PHONE......order online??!! Let me tell you a million reasons why this is a b-a-d idea when it comes to formal wear!

Ordering online is always a HUGE risk when it  comes to formal wear and here's why:

 FAKES FAKES FAKES

Many online retailers {most of which are not reputable} claim to have  designer gowns such as Sherri Hill, LaFemme, etc. In pictures, it may actually be the real dress that the company has stolen from the designers website. When the dress arrives on your doorstep {if it ever makes it} is often not the real deal: cheaper beading, material, zippers and more than likely looks NOTHING what the picture shows.

IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT PROBABLY IS

Authorized dealers of formal wear are required to sell their dresses at price points set by the company. If you are buying a dress from a newer season it will NEVER be on sale unless it is damaged, previously worn, or fake.

 SIZING

 Sizing  in formal gowns are very different than regular street clothes. It's very hard to be sure how something is going to fit unless you are in store and can try it on or at least try a dress on that is similar to what you are wanting. Formal wear is meant to be purchased in store!

KNOW THE RETURN POLICY

I will tell you up front...we do not accept returns on any formal gowns. It's so that gowns can't be worn and then returned or that you aren't purchasing a nice gown and it hung in someone's closet for a week, tried on 17 times and then now you're buying a gown that smells like someone else's home and is partially worn. With all that being said, most formal wear places have the same policy and if they don't then just think about the dress you've received and worn from ordering online!

SHOP LOCAL {last but certainly not the least}

Okay, so nothing like a shameless plug but really shopping local is great for our community.  I could probably write an entire book on why it' s so important to support your local businesses! (I'll save it later for a different blog post) Northwest Arkansas has so many wonderful locally owned businesses and I feel so privileged to be part of our business community.

On that note of shopping local here's why you should shop Tesori for all your formal needs:

New YEAR, New STORE!

Okayyy, so we know it's a little "late" into the new year but we are still super EXCITED about the new look of our store.  When we were dreaming of ideas for Tesori we could not have imagined the outcome of our new digs! Thanks to Chris of Goddard Design Group he gave us just what we wanted AND some. His theory on design is give the customer what they don't know they want! We could not have dreamed up the beautiful things he did to our store. So, thanks a million Chris!!

The things we hear most when people come to shop is "I don't feel like I'm in Fayetteville...I feel like I'm in a big city!"  And that's exactly what we wanted to achieve. You don't have to go out of town to shop for your prom, formal or even wedding gown to find big city labels or looks. We've searched high and low to bring the best of the best to NWA. We would love for you to stop in and check us out...not only is it an experience but we've got a fun and friendly staff!!
